“Architectural Emphasis”

This series of photographs are formal aesthetic studies of buildings, which reference and are influenced by the abstract minimalist paintings of the early fifties and sixties.  I am drawn to the geometric patterns in the architecture, which are generally overlooked by the passer-by.  I use the building’s structure and shadows to compress the image into a flat plane, addressing attention to texture and the composition of color field.
